From what age can you take a baby on an excursion in Koh Samui?

For babies under 2, we recommend avoiding long boat trips (Ang Thong's 8-hour day is too long, with intense sun and engine noise). Better options: a safari in an air-conditioned van (short, cool, with frequent stops) or activities at your villa (yoga, massage, Thai cooking). From age 2, Koh Tan & Koh Madsum is doable (6 hours, short crossing, easy beach).

Are there reduced rates for children?

Yes, always. Samui Authentic children's rates: 0-3 years free (on a lap), 4-9 years reduced rate (~70% of the adult price: 2,000 THB for Koh Tan, 2,700 THB for Ang Thong, 1,800 THB for the Safari), 10+ years full adult rate. On private tours (Koh Rap, private Ang Thong) a flat group rate applies — no extra charge per additional child up to the boat's capacity.

Is snorkeling gear provided for kids?

Yes — child-size masks, snorkels and life jackets are included on all our snorkeling tours. For toddlers (3-5 years) we have specially fitted life jackets. Teens and adults get standard gear. Everything is disinfected and well maintained. Of course you're welcome to bring your own gear if you prefer.

Is the elephant sanctuary really suitable for children?

Yes — Samui Elephant Haven is designed for families. No riding (it's banned), no forced shows. You feed the elephants fruit and sugar cane (kids love it), watch their mud bath, and observe them roaming freely across 30 hectares. The visit lasts 45 minutes or 3 hours depending on the package. Moving and memorable, but always at a respectful distance. Child rate: 600 THB (45 min) or 1,800 THB (3 hours).

What if my kids get seasick?

1) Pick short crossings: Koh Tan (20 min) rather than Ang Thong (50 min). 2) Give a motion-sickness remedy such as Cocculine or Dramamine 30 minutes before boarding. 3) Seat the children at the back of the boat (less amplified motion). 4) A light breakfast (but not on an empty stomach). 5) Choose calm-sea days — our captains postpone in rough seas, free of charge. 6) Zen Guarantee (+500 THB/pax): free cancellation even the day before.

Are the lunches kid-friendly?

Yes. On every tour we let our partner restaurants know that children are coming: less spicy, simple dishes (rice, grilled chicken, fries, fruit) alongside the classic Thai menu. Even fussy eaters always find something they like. Drinks: water, fruit juice and soda included, unlimited.

Can I request a nanny or babysitter during the excursion?

Not as part of the tour itself (our team doesn't provide childcare), but we can put you in touch with trusted local babysitters for days when you'd like a couple's outing. Babysitter rate in Samui: 300-500 THB/hour. 48 hours' notice required.

My child is afraid of animals. Is the pig tour still a good idea?

The Koh Madsum pigs stay on the beach, and you're never forced to go near them. Many shy kids watch from the boat or the pier before working up the courage to approach. The snorkeling and the lunch on the water are the real highlights of the tour — the pigs are a bonus.

Can we book a half day instead of a full day?

It's possible on the private versions (Koh Rap, Ang Thong). On semi-private tours, we follow the shared boat's schedule (8h Ang Thong, 6h Koh Tan). If your kids tire quickly, go for the private option and ask for an early return — we adapt at no extra cost.

Are strollers useful in Samui?

For the towns yes (Fisherman's Village, Lamai), but not for excursions (sand, jungle, boat). A baby carrier or sling is better for the safari. On the boat, we settle babies on a lap or in special bucket seats (request in advance).

Is there a children's menu at lunch?

Yes, we let the partner restaurants know in advance. On the children's menu: grilled chicken, plain rice, fries, fresh fruit. Drinks: water, juice and sodas, unlimited. Even fussy eaters always find something they like.

If my kids get sick, can we cancel?

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the tour. At day-1 or on the day itself, fees may apply depending on the operator. Our Zen Guarantee (500 THB per person) covers any cancellation, even last-minute (the day of the tour included, up to 1 hour before departure). Recommended if you're traveling with young children.
